Far be it from me to contradict the Father of our Nation, but I don't agree. There's nothing wrong with political parties. I just wish we had a couple and that they presented us with viable choices. Also, alliances can be very useful in today's world. Washington's point of view may have made sense in his time, but the oceans no longer insulate us from the rest of the world as they once did. Indeed, we should look to England's experience. The Atlantic is less of a barrier than the English Channel was in earlier times.

All previous Republics/Democracies have died, in large part, due to factionalzation... parties more interested in their own power as opposed to the overall well-being of the body politics as-a-whole.
