It's funny that you say this, because I honestly find myself buying more books lately. I used to love wandering around bookstores, but you can't find them practically anywhere anymore. So now I'm buying books directly from publishers or wherever I can find them.
I would honestly hope screens don't replace paper presses. Granted I don't read newspapers and only very few magazines. But there's honestly nothing better than that new book smell and there's no greater feeling than being able to get an autograph from your favorite authors.

I wholeheartedly agree. Plus, the smell of one-hundred-plus-year-old book brings an incomparable smile to my face!!!

SCPO (Join to see) Regretfully, I admit that I do not expect my great-grand children to read 'paper' materials. So, sorry, paper has worked for me all of my life. How many paperbacks could I pack? How many would my iPad - Kindle pack?

SCPO (Join to see) There are some things that just need to be read in hard copy. Newspapers are perfect for changing to digital. Most magazines are great in digital, with the added bonus of not having perfume and cologne adds that stink like strip club. Books are where print will survive. There are some books that just need to be kept in print. There are books I have in both digital and print format, that I find myself reading the print version more than the digital. Funny thing is I find that things I need to really concentrate on are better in print format, but I like having them in digital too for highlighting. I don't think that print media is going to die. I think that how we acquire books is going to change as most things have. Our social media society is going to become anti social with the ease of working from home, having everything from pizza to groceries delivered to our home, and anything else we want to acquire being able to be shipped in some cases arriving the same day. Besides I would highly recommend against swatting a fly with an iPAD.

My assessment, too, PO3 Steven Sherrill. Books must survive, or I fear that future generations will suffer some new kind of illiteracy from reading everything on some screen!!!

SCPO (Join to see) - Reading on a computer or a tablet allows too easy access to distractions.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - And my saintly Mother would say it'll make you go blind...or was that about watching the TV in the 1950s???
