Oh, look! If you follow the links in the article back to the original story, it actually says this:

"Thompson's legislation would require federal background checks on all gun sales, including private transactions. There likely would be small exemptions, such as transfers between family members, or temporary use of a gun for hunting. Gun-control groups estimate that roughly one-fifth or more of gun sales don't include background checks."

If your neighbor can't go to a gun shop and buy a weapon without getting a background check, why should you be able to sell him one without one? And how does requiring a background check to sell a weapon (a commercial transaction) in any way hinder your right to bear arms? That's right, it doesn't.

If putting restrictions on selling stuff you own is being a communist, how come the repubs aren't writing articles saying how wrong it is that you can't sell your prescription drugs to your neighbor?

We haven't seen anything yet - they're tossing around a bunch of ideas, from mandatory 'safe storage', expanded background checks, extreme risk protection orders (where law enforcement can confiscate all your firearms for a certain timeframe), 'scary rifle' bans. At the same time, more states are legalizing 'recreational' marijuana. Keep the populace stoned and they won't realize their rights are disappearing.
