That is not what ex post facto applies to. Legislation such as this can reverse/change something like a wage. Ex Post Facto normally deals with criminal law. You cant make something a crime then charge peoples with a crime after you make it a crime.

They could have grandfathered people in but they chose not to do it. Remember, these folks were elected by the peopled of Iowa and are doing what they ran on or their constituents want done. You are essentially saying the population of Iowa is heartless.

Not a great move, those that deserve it shouldn't be denied it.

Good. I am against cities having their own minimum wage requirements. Don't like the minimum wage? Change it at the state level. There is nothing to force employer to lower wages. What an employer chooses to pay above minimum is entirely between them and their employees. Also there is no way the taco bell employees deserve above $7.25 an hour. How many ways can you screw up a cantina bowl?

I agree kinda sorta. It all goes hand-in-hand. If the cost of living is too high then you have no choice. Its kind of like the people who want to boot people off of welfare but don't have any jobs for them to go to. If you don't want people on government assistance then you have to give them abilities to help themselves out. If the cheapest accomodations in your town are $2000 a month, then a $7.25 per hour worker is going to be hard pressed to afford that.
