I grew up with a bigot, a virulent bigot. My father's racism embarrassed me. I viewed the passage of the Civil Rights Act as great an accomplishment as the abolition of slavery. I looked forward with hope. I now look back with dismay. No law can eradicate human foibles and idiocy. Yes, racism no longer enjoys legal status. Racists are largely shunned among decent people. However, it is still not only practiced but also encouraged by identity politics. Indeed, the worst racists, equal to my father, now are those who cry out the loudest against racism.
