The concept of apologizing for harming others and accepting such apologies is rooted in just about every society/civilization from time immemorial. It's found in ancient Hebrew teachings as well as Hawaiian social mores where it is referred to as "Ho'Oponono" (literally, to make right right). It is equally important in all cases that the apology be accepted as it is important that the apology be made. Failure to do so is to condemn a people to perpetual conflict such as the infamous feud of the Hatfields and McCoys. The feud in America has been building for several years now and it has already drawn blood. If we don't remember this simple concept, it will continue to escalate until we will truly "reap the whirlwind..."

Pete Davidson's father was a NYC firefighter who was killed in service during 9/11. Davidson was about 8 at the time. I thought it poignant that Crenshaw mentioned that. CPT Jack Durish

I thought it was a good way to put the story to rest. Crenshaw did well to accept the apology and I think maybe the Davidson fellow just didn't realize what a doofus he was being by poking fun of Crenshaw. It's amazing in a world of political correctness and hyper sensitivity folks still fall down the rabbit hole of what would have been even under our crow magnum ways, bad taste.
