Big beef here. Too many places bring your receipt for signature with 18% gratuity added AND the tip line empty (Olive Garden, Outback) so if you fail to read the receipt..... "Order here" joints spin the screen around with tip ranges from 18% to 30% so you choose in full view of others (Papaouli's, Marisco's Chihuahua).
Biggest beef? Tips usually go into a communal pot and are shared.

I do not tip Fast Food of any kind, if I am at a Buffet where the wait staff do not bring me food I usually leave a dollar or two per person. The only time I actually leave a Tip is full service and then its minimum of 15% even for crappy service, if you smile act like you know how to please a customer I have given a $20 tip on a $40 meal.

As someone who has worked as waitstaff, worked at a full device gas station (some on here might not even know what that is) I normally tip well. Yes, I know the percentage has gone up over the years. I will tip, half of my normal for a full service, for a place I call in for order out, if it is ready on time and it is exactly what I ordered.
I tip in restaurants but I will deduct 5% if I finish my drink before being asked for another or a refill. Those are my standards. I do not tip at a fast food joint, and I don’t at a coffee joint since all I am getting is black coffee.
