What ever happened to our "brown water" navy from Vietnam days? But, I'm sure casualties are a consideration. Loved to see those little PBRs in action.

Master Chief we still have them Coastal Riverine. In 2006 Navy Formed NECC (Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, EOD, Seabees,Coastall Riverine,Navy Dive Salvage, EXW Intel and Martime Civial Affairs and Expeditionary Training Teams) with that, they formed the Riverine units and took over mission from Marines who were doing it in Iraq up to that point. They deployed three Riverine teams and stood down in Iraq in 2011 when we withdrew. The Riverine groups merged with Maritime Security units in 2012 and combined Riverine with coastal warfare units and merged to what is called Coastal Riverine, they have detachments that do the Riverine missions when needed. They did train the Iraqi's for Riverine missions, we can not send any of ours because that would be considered offensive actions patrolling their Rivers. Yes we have capabilities but are not in combat so not deployed.

CPO (Join to see) - I thought of you when I wrote that post, but didn't have a full understanding of the current force. I wouldn't have thought RIBs could carry the weapons and personnel load shown in the video. What rate commands each boat?

MCPO Roger Collins - Some what same as Coastal Riverine Usually a JO LTJG and or a LT and then Chiefs and Senior First class's. Small unit leadership stuff. They just do training on these and have a Riverine capable SQD, their primary mission now is inter coastal stuff. They have combined the Coastal Security and Riverine units, Riverine mission is secondary. They use several small boat platforms, those are just a capability, They also use Sea Ark Patrol boats, MK VI's and RCB'S or they call it CCB, CB90 Swedish boat like the ones involved in that Iran crap.
