THE SOURCE OF IRAQ'S POST-INVASION INSTABILITY
Iraq didn't have terrorism issues under Saddam. The instability and jihadist propaganda in the region changed everything. Paul Bremer was horribly unqualified--if they left the American generals in charge it would be a COMPLETELY different story. The Iraqi Army would not have been disbanded and the story would literally be completely different front-to-back.
One of my SFCs back in the Army invaded Iraq up to Fallujah in 2003. He blew up an Iraqi tank with a TOW missile moving into the city on a Bradley. He said, when we were in Mosul, the reason Iraq became a mess is because the Bush admin. put Paul Bremer in charge instead of a military general. They thought it would be more "humane" but was the polar opposite.
When Paul Bremer gave the order to disband the IA, there were literally, no exaggeration, US Army generals *on the phone* with Iraqi generals discussing the return of the Iraqi Army. If it weren't for Paul Bremer, it would've been completely different. ISIS wouldn't even exist I don't think.

I guess if you compare Saddam to Interim Government to ISIS....it shows life changes. Ask any American how we are doing now vs. under Obama or under Bush, etc. I bet you will get different answers too.
I dont know who you talked to or when. I've been over there a total of 36 months just not after ISIS came in. If you study Middle Eastern/Arab culture, they tend to live in the moment and have a different long-term memory so to speak.
During my times over there it was loudly praised that Saddam was gone. The canals to the Euphrates were reopened and farmers could once again grow wheat. Businesses could reopen and sell...well whatever they wanted, including booze.
