SP5 Mark Kuzinski This is interesting. It's interesting because, the title uses the word "new", I'm sorry but that was the first thing that caught my attention. The truth is that the families of "martyrs" have been receiving cash and other items from varying sources for many years. For example, Saddam Hussein made public events out of handing out checks to the families of suicide bombers, while the member would stand on stage and say things about the martyr such as "I am proud of him, may God reward him". During one, two year period, Iraq paid more than $10 million to Palestinian families. Iraq under Saddam, paid martyrs according to a well known scale "Families of suicide bombers get $25,000 each and families of those killed in confrontations with Israel get $10,000. Those who's houses are destroyed by the Israeli military get $5,000 and those wounded by Israelis get $1,000." These amounts are considerable especially in the Palestinian territories.

Iraq's payments were not the only ones going to suicide bombers. Funds are also channeled through the charities to them. Dozen's of Middle East charities have links to insurgent groups and are paying the families of those they consider to be "martyrs".

Homes of suicide bombers are clearly marked by banners and signs displaying the "glory" of the "martyrs". It has become a cultural status symbol to have a family member who is a "martyr".

This is a solicitation for murder sceme and it's not new, to the region.

Iran is cashing in on the desperation of poor people who see no way out to fund their campaign against those the state of Iran sees as a threat.
