When it comes to military strategy, got to hand it to Iran for sheer incompetence in the area of timing of their attacks and attacking when their forces are the most vunerable. Not sure what they were trying to achieve beyond sheer propaganda points but the attack on Israel will probably go down in history as one of the dumber moves Iran has made militarily. All they did was give Israel on a silver platter justification for doing what it has been waiting to do for months.

This whole thing has been brewing for well over 70 yrs mow, well before the end of WW2, and the time of the Balfour Declaration...nobody owns that whole place, it's just a question of who's renting it at the moment, till the mext conqueror rolls along...hat land has been fought over so long now, even God can't count that high, honest, millennia after millennia after millennia, getting them all to stop is a total nonstarter, ain't gonna happen, it goes way, way too far back, and any dissimulation hat it'd be able to be ended, any which way, is pure facade...honestly, there just no way to fix it, except to just bulldoze the whole place into he Suez Canal or Stairs of Hormuz, turn it all back into a desert and just grow a few sheep on all of it or something, that's just how I think about that whole place, honest...they've all been fighting so long, they've all forgotten why, I think even God's forgotten why, I'd suppose even God's tired of hearing about their constant internecine squabbles, all basically about him...his garbage has been going on since the time of the Old Testament, through the whole Roman Empire, all the way through the Crusades, trudging wearily onward through the Ottoman Empire and WW1, all the way to the present day, it'll never be over, they'll all never gonna be happy, they all want to own the place, and none of 'em have figured out, in all the milpenia of ceaseless warfare there, that it's really God who owns that whole place, honest...as I said, those are my thoughts, cynical tough I know they obviously are, I suppose, hope that at least offered some useful insight, if nothing else....

Prior to the rise of Khomeini's Islamic Republic, Israel and Iran had much better relations.

I follow, I obv don't deny the truth of that, however, I view what happened in Iran as a form of theocratic Communism, whereas I view what happened in Iraq as essentially theocratic Fascism. Just as Germany and the Soviet Union loathed each other throughout WW2, in like fashion Iran and Iraq loathed each other throughout their war. I merely thought to emphasize that, on a purely phenomenon I logic basis, the human race has been fighting over Jerusalem since almost time immemorial, also, all countries undergo their Fascist-Communist phase, most of the countries in the Middle East are just doing so now, sociologically, what happened with WW2 didn't help matters, certainly, upsetting any sort of sociopolitical equilibrium there that much further, by the establishment of Israel, which, while inevitable, and, ultimately, necessary, was certainly bound to upset the delicate sociopolitical equilibrium there that much further, at least to my way of thinking...my !ain argument is, the fighting there has gone in for so long with the land changing hands so many times, pretty much beyond counting at this point, that I'm reminded of a movie comedy I'd seen once, where there was a whirling melee going on, and another character, Cary Grant, I think, just walked away, saying to alp of those involved, "Go, fight," and just walked away from the ensuing and continuing chaos....
