Honestly, if the bad guys knew there were guns on the premises there would likely be a lot less chance that they would attempt a shooting. An armed society is a polite society.

using Edweek as a reference (ignoring any bias and just taking the data as it is), there where 24 incidents in 2018 and 35 people killed, and there are 132,852 schools (K-12) and 5,750,520 students in the US. The odds of a shooting happening at your school is .018065215% and a .00060864% chance you'll be a victim of such violence. The math doesn't match the hysteria. While gun violence is a tragedy in any and all cases in our society, such things are a rare occurance. We honestly need to ask ourselves, "why does this happen?" I seriously doubt touching a firearm makes someone want to go hurt other people, there's obviously a malfunction with that individual. The real question is how do we engage and help them... then again there are 7.7 billion people on this planet and some are just oxygen thieves.
