PO3 Steven Sherrill Jay Z is an Idiot.. He has NO HONOR...NO DIGNITY....and would never have the GUTS or STAMINA to really serve in the ARMED FORCES....He's a RICH spoiled Rapper who parties and thinks his CRAP doesn't stink...... He does not DESERVE to play a roll of a Soldier much less a Soldier with Honors and great distinction....

Sgt Kelli Mays I cannot say I disagree. I just think it is nice that the story is being told. Be interesting to see if he can pull it off. I admit I didn't think Bradley Cooper was going to be able to pull off American Sniper. That is why I didn't see it in the theater. I was pleasantly surprised. It may not be accurate, but it is interesting, and it honors Chief Kyle's life. I hope this does the same.

SGT William Howell if you have watched recently, you will have noticed that most things on TV are totally worthless. The best shows have been the debates, filled with comedy and drama (soap opera drama), instead of being an open dialogue contrasting the candidates. My biggest thing is that I like when Hollywood tells the story of actual service members who actually tried to make a difference. Instead of the drivel that they pander as entertainment.

PO3 Steven Sherrill The problem I have is that the story in itself is already amazing. Then some douche has to Hollywoodize it and destroy the true hero. I have worked with both SEALs and SF (in a support role) You couldn't get those guys to say shit if they had a mouth full of it. Then Hollywood gets a hold of it and they make these heroes into some kind of loose cannons that are dancing on the edge of mentally unstable. Then everyone thinks that they want to be a SEAL because they are these crazy guys that run around shooting people. The last time Hollywood did a good job was Patton and that was only because Patton was larger than life and the stuff he did was better than made up stuff.

SGT William Howell - I couldn't agree more. The amazing stories, are the ones that those who were there to witness only share among those who could have been there to witness it, and they stay in the community. Hollywood sensationalizes everything to the point of ludicrousness. Now in a comedy it is OK, because nobody goes in to a comedy thinking that there is any realism to it. Dramas, whether action or not, have the expectation of plausibility. So when it is sensationalized, those who don't have any idea, assume that it has realism. Top Gun was one of the few times that the sensationalizing had a positive outcome. Recruiters have said that it was the best recruiting tool to come out of the 80's.

SFC George Smith there is a motivation in there somewhere. Personally, I don't really care what the motivation is. I just hope that they do it justice, and don't end portraying this man in a bad light. I do not know how accurate a telling of Chief Kyle's life American Sniper is, it is a movie based on a book written by a widow. I take it with a grain of salt. What I liked about though is that he was not portrayed as this super great person able to balance military service and family life. It portrayed him as a human being dealing with life. I hope that is what they do with this. Don't turn him into the one dimensional character that you find in a typical action vehicle. Portray him as a human being.
