So you're blaming a President because a business decided to close the doors on one of its divisions? And, you're blaming a President for failing to intervene with taxpayer money to prop up a shuttered business that was going to be led by unproven people? Putting $245m of taxpayer money (almost $1b in today's money) at risk for 5,000 people doesn't seem like a very good use of taxpayer dollars.

MSG Billy Brumfield - Do you think I don't live in the real world? Do you think I don't recall what it was like back during the Carter administration?

When Carter's refusal to prop up the nation's ailing steel industry hurt our standing as a steel-producing country! The country was flooded with inferior imported steel. It was past presidents that propped up the nation's auto industry. The loans provided to that industry were paid back fast and saved the auto industry.
One thing that came from the Carter administration was that he was not known for making good decisions that did not end up hurting the US Economy. It wasn't until the end of the Biden Administration that he took his first step up from being the worst president in our nation's history.

In times like these, it's good to remember that if you can't think of something nice to say, don't say anything at all (which is why I say nothing about Jimmy Carter)

I lived there (Warren) and left there 1977 the area was so depressed and steel and auto where all closing or being sent south (nonunion areas). This all happened during Nixon and Ford well before Carter took over.
The reason I left and never returned other than visiting family and joined the military.
By the way it was during a Republican administration in Ohio.
