I used to take plebes up there when I was a youngster. Showed them that what they are going through here at school, was nothing... of course, those that were screwing up I took them to the memorial wall of fallen classmates!

It's more than a little humbling when one considers who walked those halls. One year, I tried to locate the rooms where the "greats" stayed...makes one think about what one has to live up to coming out of "Mother B".

They failed to mention the Navy Cross. Army Major Smock assisted with the effort, and was severely wounded. I believe he received the Silver Star for his actions. Col Ripley was definitely a hard man, and had proven it with his training and assignments. He earned the "Quad Body" distinction for making it through four of the toughest military training programs in the world: the Army Rangers, Marine Reconnaissance, Underwater Demolition Team and Britain's Royal Marines. Somewhere along the way he picked up great upper body strength and endurance. https://valor.militarytimes.com/hero/4314

CWO3 (Join to see) - Thanks, The Navy Cross is much more in line with the heroics I thought he should have earned, He was one tough Marine that is for sure! The story did mention his Silver star, two Bronze Stars, a couple of Purple Hearts, etc. Appreciate the update.
