Ever since my mother took me to see Patton movie in 1969 (yes, analyze this) I have always made note of August 1 as the day crazy George Patton took over command of 3rd Army.

Gen. Wood was CG of of 4th AD and he was at least as crazy as Patton and just a really outstanding officer you don't hear that much about. Fourth AD got two PUCs.
