I guess the police don't like the view from the moral high ground. One of the cool things about wearing a uniform and swearing an oath is that we are the protectors of order versus the forces that wish to harm us, and by extension, we have sworn to protect even people we disagree with...but these officers, and the ones in Minnesota, have forfeited the moral high ground, and in doing so, validated the argument that maybe they have lost their collective sense of purpose and willingness to serve their communities.
