I've "captured" a nozzle or two over the years, but never an entire boom! :-))
I realize the history of the KC-46, but I'll wait for the rest of the story since incidents like this are normally the fault of the receiving aircraft, not the refueling aircraft.

Somewhere, someone got a surprise. Does a piece of refueling boom make the sound of BOOM when it hits the ground?

Seriously, how does this happen? In-flight refuel technology has been around for at least 60 years.
