Could be legitimate concern if those who oppose him feel he is giving up too much to the West. While Kim is the leader he is pretty much a figurehead for the powerful people behind him. As in most Communist regimes if the behind the scenes power brokers sense a reduction of their power and prestige the leader is just cannon fodder. Problem is that NK is such a closed society there is no way of knowing how influential the opposition is.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen well if you believe the Intel says he kills all his opponents so this brings along the idea where he needs to start being honest with people outside how much authority does he really have he can sell his bull shit to his people that he's the supreme leader but in the rest of world could give rats ass about him nuclear weapons or not he wants descalation needs to start being honest and stop freaking trying to sell his bull crap because the test of the world knows better.

Don't believe for a moment that there are not many who are 'in the closet oponents' since as you say he kills his open oponents. That's the group that would make a move if they see their benefits going away by Kim cozying up to the West.
