That's exactly what it is. Our taxes aren't as high, and the penalties for paying them aren't as steep, but it's still being forced to turn over large chunks of pay to the government.

In the USA we call them H-1B visa workers. Same difference.

I worked in Silicon Valley for many years SURROUNDED by H1B holders... they were hardly slaves.

I may be starting the wrong designation, but that is not entirely true. When I was down side from my it job three H-1B visa holder for hire to replace me. I had to train them in order to claim my severance package. 4 months afterward the company would call me when they had a technical problem because the new hires were unable to resolve it. Finally I told them they were going to have to pay me a consulting fee for each call.
