I use plex. However, I have installed the openAlec kodi distro on my raspberry pi, but I'm hoping for a plex distro. I personally prefer plex which branched off of xbmc/kodi several years ago.

I have tried Plex for a while, but I ended up gravitating back to Kodi. I have not tried the Raspberry Pi yet. I am thinking of getting one and making a Kodi box for my bedroom TV.

I've use it - very nice python application especially with Microsoft pulling media center as of 10. I also use Emby.

Agreed. Because it uses Python, it is very flexible. You find it all over here in Thailand for Android set-top boxes.

Yes I have it on an stick in theater room, daughter's room is a TV box as well on my laptop. I have it integrated with my home automation system, Domoticz, with a plugin I wrote for it. The lights dim and ramp up when a video file is played, paused, or stopped just like at the movies.

SPC David S. - I have not gone that far with it yet. I will have to look into doing something like that with the lights. That is too cool.

I've heard a lot about this distro via Podnutz. I'd try it but I don't have a need for a HTPC. My Music Production laptop gives me all the entertainment I need.

It is a very specialized distro. I would keep it in your back pocket for when someone asks you about a HTPC setup.
