As a Legionnaire, I'd love to hear what Kroger's "criteria" was beyond, "well, dang it...we got the BSA and GSA because of vets, so there." Seems to me that their argument was one of limited scheduling...I don't think it costs the company anything to let a twelve year old scout or a sixty year old vet stand in front of their stores...in which case, they should be able to provide an explanation of how there was any conflict. Personally? I say put the vets and the scouts out there together like I remember it back when I was a kid.

These "policies" make no sense. We're not hurting their business. In all actuality, having a veteran/military organization out in front of their stores is good publicity. A lot of times, it's an individual store's manager that screws things up. There was a local Walmart that wouldn't let us Blue Star Moms sit out front to collect items from customers for care packages. When we were told that "policy" didn't allow such things we asked why the GSA were allowed to sell their cookies out front. Their response, "Because everybody loves the Girl Scouts". Seriously?! It's not much but, the Timnath, CO Walmart does not get our Blue Star business. And we do pass the word!
Good news is the Parker, CO Walmart welcomed us and made a lot of money to boot from our item drive. We handed out wish lists to customers as they entered. Then they would buy an item or two to donate to us. See? Everyone wins.
I say if you don't allow the Veterans groups, don't allow the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts!!
