Not sure I ever really liked the idea of the Coasties being part of DHS. I understand the move - in order to try to get more funding for them instead of having to fight "the big boys" for it. However, if our own shoreline patrol/defense wastes away, what good is building up our away forces?

I honestly don't know if there's a practical reason for reducing the budget to the Coast Guard or if it is political. I hope they will be adequately funded whatever that is
