I read the article. One of the concerned Congressional Reps was a former Army Ranger who said the conditions of the barracks were some of the worst that he has ever seen

So Major, as a logistician and Quartermaster is it your practice to take at face value hearsay comments made by a politician in an election year?

The article is false on its face. The majority of the deaths did not occur on post. That's the problem with too many of you is that you will believe anything that you read. Go down the list of all 28 deaths associated with Fort Hood and you will see that 80% of them occurred off post. As I've given in prior examples, two of them occurred as a result of a fatal traffic collision in Austin which is 60 miles away. Two occurred as a result of lake drownings that were not on post. One occurred as a result of a homicide when a Soldier was trying to sell a gun to somebody else in Harker Heights. Some type of disagreement occurred if he was shot with his own weapon. His body was found three hundred feet away in a ditch near his burned-out Jeep.
Believe everything you read and none of the facts, is that how it works? You read a biased hit piece and you accept it Hook Line & Sinker. The only connection the vast majority of the deaths had in common was that the service members were assigned to Fort Hood. That does not assign culpability to the post or the Commanding General or his or her staff.
