Why is it that we think just because we did our civic duty and served that the people owe not only us but our families for the rest of our lives. Why do we as Soldiers think its a great idea to put this financial burden on the same people we swore to protect. National Defense is not an option for a free state. so to insure that it stays free we must have those who VOLUNTEER to protect it. investing in those that have this civic virtue with educational and medical funding great idea but it should be restricted to those that actually serve. if you are drafted against your will then i can see additional compensation but military benefits are getting out of hand especially when people that volunteer are denied the ability to serve for medical or other reason not necessarily within that persons control.
