Many of the very same leadership and management skills we were taught in the Chief Petty Officers' Academy years ago. They were true then and they are still true today.

SSgt (Join to see)
SCPO (Join to see) absolutely! It just seems that folks appear to forget this the longer they've been in a leadership position.

SSgt (Join to see) - I've been fortunate to work directly with Flag officers and directly for others. I've worked with and for leading NCOs and every officer from O-1 to O-6. My point is this: I've seen every type of leader, and I determined long ago that the best leader is one who knows his limitations, as Dirty Harry once said!!! Those who do are capable of asking for help or advice. A leader must surely possess some of the innate characteristics of one, but a really great leader knows how to implement the two most important elements of leadership and management: Span of Control and Delegation of Authority. A man of woman who knows how to perfect those two principles in their subordinates will be immensely successful.
