It was a double standard back in my day. We just learned to live with it. Same rank, same pay, lower expectations, standards and requirements. Sounds like equality to me.
Of course it is the test's fault. That is a scoundrels last refuge is to complain about the rulers measurement. The test is the test. Another travesty in this story is that 30% of the men failed too. Let that sink it.
