Don't know why anyone would be surprised by this.
Look at the coverage of the columns of refugees moving en-mass on the news; in almost every case the rank and file is full of military aged men who in my humble opinion should be back home with a gun helping fight the bad guys in their countries. Bunch of spineless cowards.

If you wont fight for the shithole you call home, why do you expect someone else to fight and die for it. Some say the whole thing is about oil, maybe we should withdraw all troops and let Exon and Mobile and BP etc stand up armies to protect their investment/interest.

Interesting idea. But what stops the country that the oil is in doesn't take over the company that is pulling up the oil ? Companies make a lot of oil but not enough to create an army or etc to combat a country. But you make an interesting point of they could be providing a lot more of security than they do.
