I work for a courier company and I'm always staying fit by doing a hundred and thirty or so deliveries a day. I often pick up boxes from 20-120 lbs.
The brisk walking to and from the vehicle and the fast pace that they require us to do ends up being very aerobic. Three months ago, I was given a PT test without any warning. I did not read the newsletter before drill . Because of my civilian job is so labor-intensive, I got a 283 on my APFT. Exercise does keep you strong. I am 56 years old. I also don't drink, smoke or chew tobacco.

Some people say this is all a myth, blah blah blah. I started working out seriously back in 1995 after an APFT which I wan't too happy about the score. So, I started lifting weights, and by the time the next APFT came around, I improved by 10, maybe 15 points in all events. I never stopped ever since. Now that I'm 46, and almost 47 I feel pretty good for several reasons. I stopped drinking almost 11 years ago, and I don't smoke. The only bad habit I have is not been disciplined when it comes to my eating habits which is something I'm going to try to work on this year.
Physical work does work. You have to embrace it and make it your daily routine which is the hard part for most people. For me, once I picked up that set of dumbbells, I never looked back.
