Time will tell I guess. Certainly would like to not have to worry about a device overheating or breaking out on fire every time I charge it.

My only concern about alkaline is the corrosion I hope by creating a rechargeable alkaline battery it will corrode

Good thought. Have ruined a few flashlights and Christmas decorations over the years by leaving alkaline batteries in when not using for long periods. OK though, I'll take ruining something over burning down my house.
