Fun to shoot. But, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.... Laffs.... Great for keeping the enemy's head down while advancing....... Did I say fun to shoot ?

Made for close qtr compack. Not meat for long ranger. Just like the M1911. Made for close Combat. Chest holster open ended and open trigger. So the all they had to do was pull it off your chest. Very flexible. Shoot the man in front of you and drop it, it goes right back to your chest. A very slow moving, almost 50 cal in size. Meant to take it's time going through your body. A 2 in hole going in a 10 in hole coming out. Both awesome weapons

Standard caliber was .45ACP but some were made in 9mm Parabellum.

Back in the late 1970s when I was a young specialist in Germany (CSC, 1st Bn, 48th Inf) our arms room had three M3A1s and one earlier model M3 for issue to the mechanics. Never got to fire them but they were cool to play with.

CPT Andrew Wright - I rode with 1st Squadron, 11th ACR on the border in Germany 1984-86 in Fulda. We had 1 per tank and maintenance track. qualified in with an A1 in '85.
