Majority of ISIS’ foreign recruits come from just four EU countries: study

The study, prepared by the Hague-based International Centre for Counter-Terrorism, said that more than 4,000 Europeans had gone to fight in Syria, of whom 14 percent were confirmed dead, 30% have returned home, 47% are "roaming abroad, and 9 % are unknown.
Many of those who returned cited reasons for their return to be, "being disillusioned, being traumatised, (feelings of) betrayal, realisation of the atrocities, and regret, as well as having plans to recruit others or commit attacks in their countries of departure".
The countries listed as having the greatest number of citizens to join ISIL are France, Germany, Britain and Belgium. In the last 18 months we have seen an increase in the number of attacks in these countries, to include the attacks in Paris and Brussels.

The ones that returned home should be put in jail for acts of war on their countrymen. This may be a detourent to the problem.

Many years ago (which is my time frame for most things at this age) I read an article attempting to explain why most "victims" of cults had come from Jewish families. Many Jews, it seems, attempted to hid their religious affiliation to avoid persecution. Thus, children of these families grow up without a strong identity making them susceptible to cult recruiters. I wonder if the same is true of these recruits joining ISIS. France, Germany, Britain, and Belgium have rushed to embrace multi-culturalism. They have discounted their own cultures, disparaged them, even vilified them. Wouldn't children of those cultures be more susceptible to the cult of ISIS than children who are raised with great pride in their natal culture/religion/whatever? It seems that this study bears out that conclusion, doesn't it?
