Reading this article I wonder if alcohol was involved though there is no mention of it. I would use this as a training tool on why we DONT make out, hook up, or date people in the same command.
Reading some in to it (pardon me for that) They are in the attackers home, I would venture he invited her because he was interested in her and others because a party or group is an easier way to make someone feel comfortable. When his coworker was found "getting the girl" he became violent.
We as a Community are lucky that this did not end with a rape or murder, and again brings to mind the training on fraternization. I lay no blame on the female or male that were "making out" their lack of discretion did not warrant a violent attack, but we as Leaders need to watch for the danger signs of these potential situations.

The PC crowd will have a field day with this one. First of all look at the headlines. Let me say from the offset there is no substance that a man should hit women. This is clearly a lover quarrel. She was caught sleeping with another guy in the home of her boyfriend. After saying that we should look to both parties in that how this situation could have been avoided.
Back to chain of command it is the "cardinal rule" you do not date your subordinate. You cannot affectedly lead and be in love with someone under or in your command.
And in the real world it is hard but it is even difficult in the Military. For most of us, we have done it until it blew up in our face or we got checked. Let try and look at this for what it is and not the picture they are painting. I hated Monday morning because you always had to go stand before the command to explain why someone did what they did over the weekend. It is a sad story because another life and career has been damaged or lost.

COL Ted Mc - I have to say as a young soldier that was hard. I have a 14 year old son and that is my major concern. It is not the guys but the girls are aggressive and very forward. The reality is we live in a different age and time now.

SGT J M Porters - Sergeant; Not only are the young women "aggressive and forward" (read as "not showing the same false disinterest in the opposite sex as we are told is 'proper' for young women") they are also "territorial" (read as "exhibiting the same aggression/violence towards a member of the same sex whom they perceive as attempting to establish a liaison with a member of the opposite sex that they have claimed as their own as we are taught is appropriate for males").

This story has many lesson points to it and also just shows lack of character/ self control... whether alcohol was involved or not, there's no place for this kind of behavior.
Its unfortunate that in the times we are living in, we have look at this kind of incident and feel like we have to pull training from it. I know that we all "really" know, any and all of the previous training we have given would more than suffice to dissuade a person from doing any of the things from this article.
I'm really disappointed in the way that people act and then, in some way shape or form goes back to the leadership for not doing this or not doing that to prevent it.
Hold all of these people accountable and move forward!
