Well stated - you don't hear enough about these. They do happen more often than the media reports, especially the national media. Even this story will probably only get a couple of mentions on the air. When these do happen, they are almost never reported outside the local area, especially if it happens outside a large metropolitan area.

So, military members (active, retired, or whatever), are we all ready to step up when the situation demands? I hope so, part of why I've been teaching concealed carry classes since shortly after licenses became available in our state. Yes, it's a royal pain if you're on active duty since it's nearly impossible to be properly equipped when going to and from work. That's a different issue that also needs to be fixed...
