Welles Crowther lived down the street from me growing up, one of his sisters was my baby sitter, and his other sister is my sister's best friend. He is known as "The Man In the Red Bandana", because on 9/11 he took the red bandana that he always carried out of his back pocket, tied it around his mouth to block the smoke, and was able to get 11 people out of the south tower before being trapped inside as it collapsed.
