Man who played 'Taps' every night from Galveston balcony dies at 84

GALVESTON, Texas - Guy Taylor, the man known for playing "Taps" in Galveston, played his final melody Monday night.
Taylor, 84, joined the Marines in 1950.
He served in Korea where he received the Navy Commandant Medal for saving the lives of two fellow Marines.
After moving to Galveston in 1995, Taylor took it upon himself to play "Taps" at sunset everyday from his balcony in honor of all veterans.
Tonight, those he played for are remembering his life.

We visited our local historical society and discovered that taps was written and played by the Civil War unit from our town.
