My first primary MOS was 0351 - anti-tank assaultman. We were trained on the M40A1 106mm recoilless rifle, the flame thrower and the 3.5 inch rocket launcher, as well as demolitions. Except when assigned to a 106 platoon (which was part of the battalion headquarters and service company, we were assigned to the infantry companies. Weapons have changed a lot in Marine infantry battalions, but it's sad to see the old MOS die off. I'm confident that Marines will still get those jobs done with the new weapons at hand.

Sentimentality aside, the Commandant's reasoning seems rock-solid.
