Marine drill instructors at Parris Island are under investigation for hazing, abuse at boot camp

We as a nation have a harsh reality check coming. I went to boot camp at PISC and it wasn't easy even at the end of our training. Were our Drill Instructors hard on us? Of course they were and they made no bones about why. We face an enemy that will burn us with hot oil, boiling water and acid. They will drill holes in your knees to get information. Mutilation is also a favored method of the enemy. Electric shock and rape and beatings also are in their repertoire. And to top it all off, they will decapitate you without hesitation.

The DIs prepared us mentally for what they are capable of and I for one am grateful for how they prepared us. We as a nation should realize that the Recruits are becoming basically trained Marines by earning the title as millions of Americans before have.
If perplexes me to no end that we now are not allowed to prepare these young Recruits for what they will face in real combat. There was a price for failure ladies and gentlemen. How many of our Young Marines and soldiers have to come back maimed and with an array of disorders including PTSD, for us to truly prepare them for combat?

The unfortunate thing about this is that it's going to cause DIs to second guess themselves. If they think that the command is out to get them, they might not be as intense as necessary. Might not make corrections when they should. Even if it's found that some or all of these DIs did nothing wrong, the message that it sends the entire community is dangerous.

When the recruits start to feel that the DIs "can't do anything" to them, discipline slowly breaks down.

I thought only Marines could get hazed. Didn't realize recruits could.
