Marine whose book helped inspire HBO’s ‘The Pacific’ dies

You have to watch the HBO series to appreciate the story of his life and all the other Marines portrayed in this series . It was also based on the books by, Bob Lecki ( Helmet for my pillow), Eugene Sledge ( Black sands old Breed). John Basilone, who received the MOH for his action on Guadalcanal. He was killed on Iwo Jima. Anyone wanting to be a Marine ought to watch this series. They will have a better idea what the Corp is about. I have watched "Pacific" many times and I enjoy it more every time I watch it. Semper Fi.
