MSgt George Cater It seems like a small thing, but it has always amazed me how a topic like this will grow into a life of its own. I trust the USMC to get it settled quickly and not have the uniform debacles that we (the USAF) had in the mid 2000's. We trotted out several failure options, field tested them and then rolled out the pajama like ACUs in use today. I was glad I retired before I had to wear them. Although I did buy a full issue of them...for my daughter who had just commissioned. Had to send her off fully issued. You understand.

It will be interesting to see which way the Marines go. I always liked the Air Force full sized rank on the sleeves solely because its easier to see the rank. However, some commands (mine included) are now switching over the Army OCP (mulitcam) uniform which has the rank velcro'd on the front.

Recently the USAF Security Police here at MacDill have started wearing the AF version of the FROG shirt under their body armor with the tiny Velcro rank on the sleeves. Beaucoup cooler they tell me.

I wish the Army would've kept the pin on ranks on the collar. My Platoon Sergeant told me if you wanted to get promoted to always use the pin instead of sew on. Plus I was very proud when I earned my blood stripes.
