Anyone who joins up has my respect, male or female.
I have two female relatives...twin nieces of my grandfather who enlisted in the Marines in 1944, Merna Selden and Verna Selden Moore. They were discharged in Nov 1945, both PFC, both were stationed at El Toro, CA. Both are still going strong at 92 yrs old, live next door to each other. I still have a heckuva time telling them apart.
While at a family reunion, Verna found out i had joined the Navy, she told me "You should've joined a real military outfit". I told her "your husband was a Navy Chief". She said "Yeah, and i never let him forget it."
LOL That good ol' Navy-Marine Corps rivalry.

SGT John " Mac " McConnell - To say the least. They still play poker with the best of them at the yearly reunion. And the occasional scotch. They're quite a pair..lol
