It's been said that he isn't found of the "Mad Dog" nickname to start with. And honestly, with a man that commands the highest level of respect, I would defer to using whatever name he prefers. Sometimes "cool nicknames" that are made in combat don't always carry well into civilian life.

SGT Ben Keen his actual call sign was Chaos. I think he dressed down the Senator (in a manner of speaking) for insinuating that Mad Dog was his accepted call sign.
