I was on CAT teams in 1984, 1986, and 1996. I was OIC in 1984 and 1986. See if you can guess during what, Dave?

SCPO (Join to see) - No idea! Hahaha
Honestly I never got to do an Olympic event though. We were pissed when we were in Montana and got passed over for the Utah event.
This cat (LOL Couldn't resist!) was USSS CAT. We worked with them (USSS) all the time, especially for election years.

Olympics 1984 and 1996, Los Angeles and Atlanta. 1986 Statue of Liberty Centennial. A number of those CAT teams were comprised of members from several different agencies. For example, in 1986, in New York, we were center (water-bourne) ring around USS Kennedy and Governor’s Island. I was the Coast Guard agent and we were deployed on CG 82-footers. One or two USSS, one USMS, one FBI, and a NYPD SWAT sniper, plus the CG boat crew. Similar in LA during Olympics, but then we were all over Long Beach harbor where all the foreign government and VIP yachts were located. Very fun duty.

Most of those events are always fun in the end. Not always so much at the time. Some of my over seas trips were the best.
