IMO (humble opinion, as I fancy myself a lowkey cinephile), this was a great film "remake". Based loosely from the 1934 black & white, "Death takes a Holiday" - the re-imagination of Death's personification - bored and curious for life, was deftly played by Brad Pitt. Anthony Hopkins' character was likewise portrayed astutely, with a cunning calculation for "Parrish's" harsh, business attitude, but inevitable yearning for more time. My favorite scene comes near the ending, "Joe" (Brad Pitt) confronts "Drew" (Jake Weber) during the board meeting, exposing him as a 'double agent' acting on insider information towards the second-party's interests:

Drew: And who would've thought... you, an IRS agent.
Joe Black: Death and Taxes.
