Check out the video on the attached link. The current Gallery Cars in use on Chicago Metra date from a Chicago and Northwestern Railway design from the 1960's that designs intent was the rapid collection of tickets and reduced labor since C&NW was a private company back then running a private for-profit service. The new cars are designed for fast load and unload at stations with another set of double doors, as well as comfort. The levels are seperated by a split staircase two abreats vs a spiral cattle chute that only fit one direction of travel. Bike racks, first floor cabs, improved HVAC.........much nicer captain chair style seats vs the park bench design. Finally a rail car that is competitive with current European designs.
