Looks like Land Nav is still a critical course for ALL militaries. Some good Americans did not let it escalate. I think they did better than I would have in that situation while being in USA.

Actually, it has happened before that the Mexican Army has crossed into the United States with arms chasing smugglers and they did not realize where the border was. In this case the Mexicans did not realize the troops were American Army and since Mexico is trying to help us out I would handle this low key as a training issue exactly how it is being handled. I don't blame the U.S. Troops for anything they did as I was not there on the ground with them and I trust they made the best decisions. The border is a sensitive area with sometimes tense situations like this one.

De-escalation is always best however in this case with a corrupt Mexican government, how can the US soldiers be certain it was Mexican authorities verse cartel dressed as such. I would not give up my weapons.
