(03/17/22) Michigan lawmakers recently voted and finalized the bill to SUSPEND the state's 27.2-cents-a-gallon gasoline and diesel taxes for six months, but Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signaled she will VETO it. (Gov. Whitmer will also soon veto a separate Republican-backed measure that would cut the state income tax, bolster deductions for seniors and bring back a child tax credit.)
The Republican-sponsored gas tax relief legislation was passed along party lines and was written to save drivers about $750 million at the gas pump by freezing the taxes from April-September.

We have the reverse problem here in Virginia. Our Governor wants it suspended and our legislature won't give him a bill to sign.
