Mike Rowe Blasts Everyone Involved In The NFL-National Anthem Protests

MSgt Robert C Aldi - I can only echo Mike Rowe's comments. This is all about getting attention. We may succumb or not. It's our choice. We may choose to watch them or not just as they may choose to render honors to the flag or not. It seems everyone is making their choices and everything else is just noise.

MSgt Robert C Aldi - Thanks to both you and Jim Lint for sharing that. If it's current and enforceable, the word "should" is operative. The use of "may" regarding punishment is also. "Should" can be argued as less binding than "will, must, or shall". For those that stayed in the dressing room during the anthem, it appears they have a problem because of "all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem". The NFL management and owners are stuck in the middle with this, both morally and financially, so we'll have to see how they pursue it from here. It will only be taken seriously by NFL and owners once their financial losses are significant. It seems that there is a lot of noise from players and fans, but most have just accepted it. Many have made their position known and then on game day it's business as usual. I respect their right to protest but don't like their method of choice. Politicians have gotten involved with many labor disputes in the past, but only when it impacts the overall commerce or operation of the USA (Example: Pres. Reagan with the air traffic controllers, and various transportation and sanitation strikes). They have also involved themselves with sports boycotts and walkouts in the past. Even if this were a total boycott by the players, the NFL is not vital to the Nation. Many would lose revenue, so we will have to see how it goes from here.
