This is my father...
He's dyslexic and grew up during a time period when they didn't know what dyslexia was, let alone know how to educate people with this limitation.
He ended up dropping out of elementary school after his teacher told him that he would never amount to anything other than a ditch digger, and never went back.
Since then, he has worked in every facet of the carpentry trade there is - from bricklaying, to foundation pouring, to egyption wood custom carved double doors on Jennifer Aniston's front foyer.
I have literally seen him look at a blueprint, then stare into empty space where the house was to be, then cut every piece of wood with perfect first time accuracy and then erect the structure perfectly without referring back to the blueprint again.
He actually doesn't realize quite how much I love and respect him for what he has overcome and the challenges he has faced - challenges I never had to face myself.
Like Mike Rowe said in this interview - that gene was skipped on me. I went a different way.
I'm happy with my life and what I have done - but for me, my father is on a whole other level.
