Of course it is disturbing. That's why we are pushing our troops to get certifications. The Army has a program to pay for them. There are lots out there. People have to push themselves.

When I got hired into the job before I have th eone I currently hold they told me that they normally don't hire veterans because of the work ethic and the problems they cause with unions. Veterans want to work and get the mission done. Ialso had a interview for a very prestigious job and I was called back for a second interview...didn't get the job and when I found later from a friend they didn't hire me because Iwas more qualified than the people I would be working for and they thought I was gunning for their job...I wasn't, I just wanted a job. I hope we can get the unemployment rate down for veterans.

The Marine Corps does not have a 5 Star General rank. That is held by the Admiral of the Navy. The CMC is a 4 star. And there have only been 69 4 star Generals in the entire history of the Corps. According to Mike Myatt's LinkedIn page, he retired a 2 star General (Major General) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mike-myatt-a140359/

Sorry, after that I could not get by the gaff that Mike Rowe made and the rest did not sink in. But what I did understand is a significant unemployment rate for transitioning veterans. And this sucks. The best advice I give to those I know who are transitioning is to please realize this country's financial system is not based on jobs. It is a Free Enterprise country. Because we've been indoctrinated into believing the only route to success is via a job I would challenge anyone who thinks so to point out someone who "made it" via a job.
